First I’d do a hard reset by holding down the A button until it powers off (past any assistance notifications). Then turn it back on.
Then I’d try a different watch face if it continues. When there is an update, some downloaded watch faces need to be updated by the developer or can cause excessive drain.
After that look at other big drainers: 1) AOD always on display will drain in a couple of days, 2) all day or even nightly pulse OX will shorten the life span, 3) playing music through the watch instead of the phone, 4) Long GPS activities
Lesser factors would be length of display timeout, brightness settings etc.
I have had the watch for almost two years with no problems. It appears to link to a recent software update. I have done all that you said. Hard Reset used the default Garmin Watch Face. I literally watch the battery drained faster than before under the default settings. Also I notice even with a hard reset the watch stayed on the 6.80 software. The hard reset took away garmin pay and all the watch faces. I am not sure why the watch stayed at the 6.80 software. Is there a file containing the updated versions I can delete? It almost as Garmin is saying that my watch is toast and buy a new one.
A hard reset is really just a re-boot and will maintain all current settings and software. I have never lost watch faces or garmin pay with a hard reset, (only with an actual watch reset going through the watch settings.) You could do a full reset instead by going through the watch settings and doing a full reset. The problem is it will probably try to do the update again.
I’d contact Garmin about this, if you’re in the US or Canada support.garmin.com and can start a chat session. If in another country you have to reach out to the local Garmin company there.
