Recovery Rate Wrong Since v. 6.20? Resulting in Lower VO2 Max?

My "recovery rate"recovery rate had been hovering around the upper 50s to 60 on most days Since the last two updates, the watch shows values like 14.

I should be worried by such a drop normally, but then when I look at the watch it shows 140+ bpm while I am driving, maybe 4-5 minutes after I've stopped my run. But when I check my pulse manually, it's pretty regular, nothing nearly as fast as it shows on the watch.

Anyone else with this issue?

Any solutions?

  • Can you please post an update whenever it was a problem with your particular device or is it a trend, I'm sick right now so can't make a proper test and post HR graphs from my watch and HR strap, but I'll probably do that once recover.

  • I called and they were helpful in suggesting possible solutions, such as using the Garmin Express desktop updater, and turning HR off and on on the watch.

Unfortunately, after trying all suggestions, the Recovery Rate is still way off, this time in the 20s range, showing HR above 120 bpm five minutes later, even though a manual check shows a real HR of 60.

Using a chest strap, the recovery rate is a much more plausible 80.

Can someone at Garmin check this: Turn on Walk and get an HR above 150, then stop the exercise and check the Recovery rate. I am using Walk since there is no Trail or trail running and I hike/run on a trail. @sensovision I hope you are feeling better -- perhaps you can try and duplicate?

  • Hey Sorry it took me that long, anyway I did the promised test just to demonstrate how HR is actually working, instead of looking in activities for my old tests I did the new one by going for a short walk and recording my data simulteneously with my Vivoactive 4 and my HRM Dual using Polar app, here are the restuls: forums.garmin.com/.../wrong-hr-even-during-low-activity
