Sometimes my screen doesn't easily wake up by either wrist flip or double tap.

Hi, does any of you experience this? Sometimes it works fine, but sometimes it does not. I have to flip my wrist several times before the screen finally wakes up. Some other time, double tapping and wrist flip doesnt do well, so I have to press the button to wake the screen.

Yes, I do mean "sometimes" because the other times it works fine. Is there any circumstances that doesnt wake the screen by wrist flip or double tap, or it was just the unstability of my watch?

Please share your experience. Thanks.

  • I think others have reported this in the past. I just got a Venu 2 and do see similar behavior.

  • I have the Venu (SQ version) and this doesn’t ever happen to me unless its within my sleep hours and then DND is set to on.

  • too bad to hear that. How is Venu 2 despite this wake up behaviour?

  • i see. It works fine in SQ then. thanks for responding, Cindi.

I really like it. The only real issue is with AOD. I came from a VA4 where the screen was definitely always on. I love this amoled screen and battery life is not a concern for me. It gets down to 60 or 70 percent in the AM and then gets fully charged while I shower. But the AOD goes from full power to low power to completely black screen after a few minutes for all the analog CIQ faces I have tried except 1. I am in touch with multiple developers and they all say it works fine with the simulator. I am hopeful this gets fixed by Garmin so the developers can fix their faces. I know it can be done because there is that one face that works. The Garmin provided faces don't do this but the data on the faces is too small to see without my glasses. Oh, and there are not a lot of faces available yet since the watch is new. All that said I really like the interface and the sleep tracking is better and Pulse OX measurement is better than the VA4. (And your original Venu since it is the same watch just with the amoled screen).

  • I've noticed that I have to make a very precise movement to get it to work.  I have to start with my watch down by my side.  Then I lift my entire arm up and rotate the watch so that it is facing upward at just above waist level.  So it's like my entire arm makes an arc.  If I do it that way, I'd say that it turns on about 90% of the time.  If I do it any other way, it really is totally hit or miss.
