Battery occasionally drains from 50% to 0% in one night. Why?

I've had my Venu for several months now, and it's been great! (Thanks for helping me stay active during the pandemic!) However, I've noticed that every once in a while, the battery will drain from around 50% or so to almost 0% in a single night. It never drains that fast during the day, even when I have Pulse Ox turned on all day. The odd thing is it isn't consistent. Most of the time it's not a problem; it usually drains by about 10% or so at night, which is fine. It's just every once in a while that it gets sucked dry, and I don't know what the reason could be.

This happened most recently just last night. Again, I have Pulse Ox turned on all day, not just at night. I don't have the watch face always on. In fact, I have it set to turn the watch face off at night so it doesn't turn on when I flick my wrist during night hours. I recently got a new phone, and this has happened every once in a while with both my old and new phone. Anything else I should check?

Thanks!

  • This is happening with my Venu after latest updates also. Super inconsistent, my usage is the same as always. I usually had 4-5 days of battery life, now it's 1.5-2 days. And exactly like in your case, sometimes I go to sleep with 50% of battery remaining, but the watch dies at 3 AM (like, in 4 hours it goes flat). So, it's definitely not your new phone, it's Garmin and their crappy software update.

At first I tried to reset the watch, turn off/on various sensors, but the drain still happens as a nasty surprise. So, let's just wait for a fix, which hopefully gets rolled out soon, or I am never buying a Garmin device again.
