Trouble connecting with Wifi, error code 010.

Hi.

I have purchased a Garmin Venu watch for the main reason to be able to download music to my watch so I don't have to carry my phone when I go for a run. When trying to download music to my watch, I get the WiFi error connection code 010.

I see on a number of threads that this seems to be a common issue. Has anyone been able to find a solution to this problem? I would be super disappointed if I've gone for the more expensive Garmin product because it stores music to find out that the feature doesn't work.

I'm so not computer or tech savvy, so I'm hoping that I don't have to get a degree in computers to be able to fix the problem!

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello! Could I have you try a hard reset on the device (Press and hold the top right button till the screen goes blank, ignore anything that pops up. Let it sit off for a full minute and then turn back on the watch) and then try again to download music onto the watch. Have you set up the Wi-Fi in Garmin Express or through the Garmin Connect app?

  • Hi Isabella. Thank you so much for your response. I set up the WiFi in the Garmin Connect app. I have done as you've suggested & it seems to be working. Fingers crossed it works when I get home & am able to test the music with my blutooth headphones.

  • because you are using a Venu Sq watch and not the original Venu model, please start a new post in the Venu Sq product section.  We can address your issue there.

  • How did you set up the WiFi on the Apple?

  • Good day, I have had this error code for months now.

I have hard reset so many times.

No success. I cannot use my watch for the exact reason I bought it....

Is there a solution? Or is this a product issue and flaw?

    I am severely disappointed.

  • I had the same problem with my  vivoactive 4s... for me following --> settings on my wifi worked to connect successfully:

What Requirements Does My Wi-Fi Network Need to Meet?

    • Supported Frequency: 2.4 GHz only   --> Yes switched to 2.4 GHz only
    • Supported Protocols: 802.11 ac, b, g or n (802.1x is not supported)   --> 802.11b/g/n mixed
    • Supported Channels: Channels 1-11 only  --> switched to manual mode on channel 1 / 20 MHz  (before automatic channel 11, didn't work)
    • Security: Unencrypted,  WPA, and WPA2 --> Switched to only WPA2-PSK
    • Passwords for encrypted networks must meet an 8 character minimum in length  --> yes my password already was 13 characters long
    • Networks with a hidden SSID are not supported  --> yes visible

I shortened my network name just to be sure that wasn't an issue, and also be sure you don't have a SPACE at the end of the password because that will probably cause an issue as well.

My watch is FINALLY connected to my home wifi.

If it doesn't work with this settings, you can try maybe another channel.

    Good Luck
