Altitude issue and much more

According to my venu 90% of the time my altitude is -100m , thats nice.

This will be my first and last garmin product i purchase.

Sleep tracking is horrible and so many other issues.

Awful awful product. i dont understand how their dev team can be so bad and keeps ignoring issues for so long ...

    I don't think fellow users can help when the company itself can't help. 

    Just voicing my opinion and maybe help giving people who are considering buying garmin product insight on what to expect if they think that garmin is a quality product just because it has a big pricetag

    That's strange. I am just another fellow Garmin Venu user, but it is by far the best smart watch I ever had. Yes, altitude sometimes acts up, but I never had any issue with sleep tracking, bluetooth connectivity, or any other sensors. Compared to all my previous watches (mostly Samsung), Garmin's Venu is better in almost every way. I am just voicing this because maybe you have a defective watch or something. Some people have issues, that's for sure, and that is true regardless of the watch's brand. I sent my previous Samsung watch back to service 3 times in a single year. They basically had to change everything in it, from display to motherboard. After a year, the only original component was the case. But I am sure that there are millions of Samsung watch users without a single issue. Same is true for Garmin.

    Definetly very strange, all the reviews I found online on this forum and on reddit about not only the venu but garmin in general are overwhelmingly negative about the sleep tracking inaccuracy.

    What annoys me the most is that the watch says I went to bed at 8pm while I'm literally still moving, like it's counting my steps live in real-time but when i look at the overview the watch is like "Naa fam you must me walking in your dreams because I consider you asleep now" 

    Maybe a defective unit but I doubt 95% of the people have defective units. To be honest you're one of a handful of reviews that say the sleep tracking is ok. I've given up trying to find a solution and hope with every software update that it will be fixed but unless they take a page out of Fitbit or Apple it ain't gonna be fixed.

    Yeah, the thing is that most people who are pleased with their product do not go to forums and tell others they like it. They are just silent. So most forums, for any product and any brand are full with complains. And that is normal. If you go to to Samsung forums, it is exactly the same. For example none of my Samsung watches were able to take my pulse more than once per hour. And I had several of them from Galaxy S2 up to Samsung Galaxy Watch or whatever its name was. I basically had no pulse tracking, though sensor was on all the time. That I consider way more irritating than some small sleep inaccuracies.
    Then, when I was stationary, like reading mid day ... my Samsung suddenly declared I am asleep. 
    Then there is FitBit ... did you know that if you start clapping your palms for about 30 seconds it declares you are sleeping? I've seen it demonstrated at a software conference. The software gets confused by the movement of clapping and triggers some a behavior that wrongly things you are asleep.
    So, there are worst things than Garmin sleep tracking.
    Regarding your observation. I just checked my sleep tracking from a couple of days ago when I went to bad past the time I've set for "go to sleep time". I was reading, and indeed, the watch though I was asleep, but then, started walking, and while I was moving, in the sleep cycle, the period appears with pink=awake. Even more, I observed that the sleep tracker works even if I go to sleep earlier than the set go to sleep time and keeps working even if I wake up later than the set wake up time. Yes, the PulsOx is active only between the set interval, but the sleep tracking actually works. I have my sleep period set from 22 to 08 hours but it can figure out if I go to sleep at 21 or even earlier, and it know when I sleep in and wake up at 10 in the morning.

    So, I do not know what are the particular issues people are so upset about.

    Perhaps you should ditch the Venu, and purchase the Samsung Galaxy watch 3.  With it, you can experience unexplained (and ignored by Samsung) heart rate dropouts during the day, and even longer one's during exercise.  Perhaps you'll like the one day battery, or the "only on demand" SpO2 readings?  Or, maybe the inability to connect any external devices other than earphones?  Many features I'm sure you'll enjoy on the Watch 3, not to mention it's "water resistant, you can swim with it", but when the watch goes *** up, you get the infamous "Voided warranty, water damage" messages.

    Yeah, Samsung watches have "water resistance" but if you check the fine print, they say it was only tested in distilled water and no warranty for tap water or salt water. 
    I checked this explicitly when I bought my Garmin, and Garmin does have real water resistance, and you are even allowed to swim with it in the salty sea given you wash it afterwards to avoid salt deposits on the charging contacts. That's it. Very well pointed out, I forgot about this Samsung misleading detail.
