Sleep stages and time not precise on Garmin Venu Sq

I got my Garmin Venu Sq about 3 weeks ago and there are some issues with sleep tracking:

1. I went to bed at different time, sometimes at 11PM, 12:00 or 1AM. But it seems the device recorded the sleeping started at around 11:00PM. Even I tried going around my room to make sure the steps counted. But the recorded sleep time was not improved.

2. Sleep stage is wrong with waking-up time. I did not have good sleep recently and I knew a wake-up or could not sleep for long time. But the recorded time as wake-up is very short, only below 10 minutes. More time was added to light or REM stage.

3. The stages are showed, but it is very difficult to evaluate as they are good or bad for my age. Comparing to Fitbit (I am a long-time Fitbit user), all stages were recorded more precisely and when display, they show the benchmark to the optimal sleeping stages for person at my age.

Could you please advise on

- How can I make my device work correctly?

- Or should I return this product since I still have one more week left?

Thank you in advance!

  • Sadly the sleep tracking sucks and Garmin don't seem particularly interested in acknowledging it, let alone fixing it. I find most of the other features in Garmin are better than on Fitbit, but if sleep tracking is important to you this is probably not the best device for you.

  • Thank you for your reply.

You are right. Other features are fine, except the sleep stages. I will take a look for another alternative.
