My venu vibrates constantly when walking or exercising. I.e tells me every step I take. How do I stop this but leave message/email vibration on

I never heard about any model alerting on every step. Are you sure it is really the case? Does it show some message on the screen, when alerting? Isn't it rather beause it loses the Bluetooth connection to the phone? If so, then just turn off the phone connection alerts, in the settings (Settings » Phone » Alerts).

When its vibrating the message is just (for instance) 4123 steps.... 4125 steps etc or 29 mins to go.... 28.50 mins to go etc. It flashes on and then off and I don't have time to dismiss it or anything.

Its like water torture vibrating almost  constantly whilst exercising 

I never heard about such kind of alert, but I am not familiar with Venu. You better ask on the forum dedicated to your model of the watch - either https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/venu or https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/venu-sq. It does not seem to have any relation to Garmin Connect Mobile Android (that's the name of the forum where you are posting), and not so many users here are familar with Venu.

You can also try performing the Master Reset of the watch, if you do not find the option causing it.

Hello! Does this only happen inside an activity profile? Any chance you are able to record a short video of the watch doing this and post it here?

A couple of questions.  You mention it shows the time counting down. Are you doing an onboard workout with steps or did you create a custom one?  

Also, do you have auto pause on?  If you are interval training, each time you stop with auto pause on it will buzz you and then buzz again when you start.

The same thing is happening to me. In the run and walk,  it just keeps showing the stair goal message/green and vibrating.

Hello! Do you have any alerts set up on the watch? Or any alerts set up inside that certain activity profile? Do you get these alerts outside of the activity profile?

I managed to sort it. It was the samsung health app working  against the garmin. Once i turned the samsung alerts off, the vibrating  stopped. I can still use them both but don't get the annoying  vibrate.
