Garmin Venu watch will not connect to my WiFi

I am an Experienced Garmin user. Yes my Venu is connected to Garmin Connect App. Yes it is paired with my phone.
I can see I have Bluetooth signal. It downloads all my activity to my iPhone but when I select “connect to WiFi”, it says “No known WiFi Networks found” and yes I am sitting next to my router etc...

Found an article on the Internet describing major issues with Garmin smart watches (Vivoactive, Venu, Forerunner Models and Fénix models), where many Garmin smart watch users complain they cannot connect to any of their home or office Wi-Fi networks! Apparently Garmin released a new update to fix major Wi-Fi error, the error code ‘Wi-Fi 200’ but this is not my problem that I am having!
Article goes on to describing making sure your network supports 2.4 GHz frequency (yes mine does) & The 802.11g wireless standard & to change your routers transmission mode to 802.11g via the routers admin settings! OK this is where I draw the line, we should not have to do this nor do I know how to do this. This is super frustrating!

Article also goes on to speak about the network name(SSID) keeping it visible instead of hidden. I don’t know how to do that either! I should not have to know how to do that either!

Article talks about changing Wi-Fi security standard to WPA2 or WPA2 or WPA-PSK as readers have stated that the Wi-Fi does not work when their security is set to WEP. OMG!!!

Garmin you need to fix this please! Super frustrating! My other Garmin, my old one syncs to my Wi-Fi fine! You need to fix this!!

  • Making the SSID visible is a router setting, usually in the same place in the settings where you set the SSID. There is no security benefit to hiding the SSID, contrary to popular belief - the SSID is broadcast in clear during connection transactions, so anyone with a WiFi sniffer will see it even if it's hidden.

WEP is the least secure of all Wifi encryption standards. You should really use WPA2, regardless of what Garmin says/wants.

You don't need to set your router to 802.11g. All WiFi routers support 2.4GHz; not all of them support 5GHz.

Requiring 2.4GHz, WPA2 and visible SSID is pretty standard for intelligent device connection to a WiFi network.
