Feature Request: Sleep Widget

Hi, Garmin officer,  I know currently Sleep tracking can be checked in Garmin Connect apps in phone, but I cannot check it directly on my watch, which is more practical and easier to access I guess.

I would appreciate if you could provide Sleep Widget in GARMIN VENU in your next software update. Thanks!

  • HI there, not all features get added to every device unfortunately. As of right now I do not have any updates regarding these changes.

  • We are not asking to add every feature, we are asking for a halfway accuracy of existing features ("advanced sleep tracking")

Having to adjust the sleep manually is not at all advanced.

  • Hello Amber. I've sold my previous watch (Vivoactive 4) and got a Fenix 6x Pro just to have sleep widget. Because i find it so overwhelming that you have to sync your watch in order to look at your sleep quality. Especially if you are an iphone user... And that situation causes angry customer profile, please be informed. Far cheaper devices from other brands already have this feature.

Also i'd like to give one more feedback. I've already sent a ticket to Garmin but i'd like to report you as well. All of my last 3 watches have the ability to measure Spo2; Forerunner 245, Vivoactive 4 and Fenix 6x Pro. But unfortunately accuracy is terrible.

  • why would you need a widget to display that ? the sleep tracking itself is extremely inaccurate and the widget will display nothing informative

  • Because sleep widget is not only a widget but also a more advanced FirtsBeat feature. Moreover, it's so practical that you don't need to sync your watch to your phone in order to display how you sleep.

  • Hello,

I would also like to add my account to this please.

The Garmin Venu is the first Smart Watch I have owned and the sleep tracking is appalling. It near enough does not work at all and defeats the object. I'd prefer it not to have it, but then I guess Garmin wouldn't sell many since the people who buy this watch generally want sleep tracking (I know it was one of the main features); I only wish I had been on this forum before purchasing it a month ago. It is really false advertising it seems.

Due to however it calculates when you're asleep, it always thinks I am asleep well before I actually am as I lay I bed watching TV and likewise for when I wake up, it needs editing manually every single day. This is usually REM sleep; if it thinks me being awake is REM sleep, how can we believe it is REM sleep when I am actually sleep?

I also wake up multiple times during the night every night. It will only ever pick these up if there is a large amount of movement (i.e. me getting out of bed to go to the bathroom...).

Overall really quite disappointed, as it's a nice watch, but as you know seems to lack in some areas that on the face of it could be improved with some attention internally and a software update. Right now, as a new smart watch user (and a techy), I would not recommend a Garmin watch to anyone.

If there is a fundamental reason that the more advanced sleep tracking cannot be added to the Venu, then Garmin simple need to come out and say that is the case and what that fundimental reason is.

As a positive, it is nice that there are Garmin employee's on this forum listening to users directly. Let's just hope that you get listened to internally and with enough "votes" from us, issues will get attention internally and actually get resolved.

    Thank you,

    James

  • To add insult to injury, it appears that Garmin has now made it impossible to edit Sleep from the Dashboard, instead forcing us to open the Sleep page. I can usually use a combination of my note of the times I fall asleep and wake up, and the graph on the Dashboard, to manually edit the times based on a best guess, but now the Edit screen shows a much less useful vertical bar graph.

Seriously, I am getting so fed up with Garmin, I feel like getting rid of the Venu and moving on.

The Garmin Sleep algorithms used on the Venu are really primitive, performing on par with devices I had in 2015. I don't know if First Beat's algorithm is any better, but it can't be worse than the garbage currently used. Either fix the current algorithm or implement the First Beat Sleep function, if cheaper.

But as it is, the Venue provides completely fake Sleep results, on par with a $15 Chinese "smart watch."

  • My method to adjust sleep and wake times still works. From the app, I choose the sleep data, which opens today's data. I choose the three dots on the top right, select Edit and adjust the times there.

  • I am talking about editing on desktop, in a browser. The app is too limited and shows only the Stages bars, and it has never provided the more useful Sleep graph available on the desktop Dashboard.

  • I am very disappointed with sleep tracking on venu.I was with Huawei GT 2 pro who is show very accurate every sleeping element ,but I decided to change it with venu, because I think thah the  venu there is more accurate activity record ,but I was wrong. Please Garmin adjust sleeping record because it don't work well.
