Venus GPS (4.80) not working after battery ran out

I ran a marathon two days ago.  The battery on my Venu did not quite make it through the race, and so the watch shut down at 25.5 mi.  Happily, the run activity did save up to that point and uploaded on to my phone and Garmin Connect.

However, since then, I have not been able to get the GPS to connect, either in a walking or running activity - I have been outside and let it attempt to connect for over 10 minutes.  I have tried turning the watch off and on and that did not fix the problem.  I don't know that the fact that the watch battery ran out is the problem, but it is hard to avoid thinking there is a connection.

I have GPS version 4.80, which must have loaded before the race because I haven't had any software updates since then.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

  • Hello! Can you plug the watch into the computer and sync with Garmin Express Then after it has synced can you reset the device. You can do this by selecting settings icon on the watch then go to system>Reset. To reset all of the device settings to the factory default values and save all user-entered information and activity history, select Reset Default SettingsThen can you test an activity to see if you can get the GPS.

  • So after NOT working for a half-dozen attempts over several days, the GPS finally got a fix.  I did not do anything that I am aware of to cause this.  Since then, it has been rainy so I have been inside and haven't checked to see if I can still get a GPS fix.  Hopefully the problem has corrected itself.

    Thank you for your response!
