I am struggling to get intensity minutes to work on Garmin Venu. I don’t know if it requires a combination of gps, activity tracking and anything else before it will work? All help gratefully received!

I'm completely disgusted with my Venu, and before that my VA3, with the tracking of intensity minutes. It's a bummer seeing no intensity minutes tracked after a hard workout. Sometimes it logs the minutes and sometimes it doesn't. Definitely not reliable,. If it isn't credible, please just remove the Intensity Minutes feature! I have made several calls to get resolution and even switched up to the Venu. I am not getting anywhere. Others are not seeing this problem?
Hello! Have you tried to adjust any of the settings. For example:
Press and hold the Down button
Select Settings
Select Activity Tracking
Select Intensity Minutes
Select Based On
Select HR Zones
Select Mod. Intensity and select a zone
Changing to these settings should make a difference. Feel free to reach out if this does not work.

Hi - thanks for responding. I did adjust from auto to HR Zones. I had high hopes. It kind of worked (the minutes rewarded did not match up to the data from the workout) for my immediate Zwift ride afterwards, but for my ride yesterday, which was much more grueling, Intensity Minutes did not even register. The activity shows up perfect on Garmin Connect. The results just do not show up in Intensity Minutes. Could it have something to do with the heart rate monitor that I wear during my workouts? This was never an issue in the past. Could it have something to do with how the activity is classed? Not sure.
Could it have something to do with my low and high heart rates that are registered every day? Not sure, but I bring it up because my low was 43 yesterday, which is right, but the high showed up as 140. In my activity, my heartrate reached 156. Why didn't it register my high as 156? It's like this every day. The highs never register what I reached during a workout.
I'm loyal to Garmin and like all the products that I have, but I lose faith seeing that Intensity Minutes don't register correctly or sometimes at all. I like this feature the most because I strive to reach 350 intensity meetings each week. It's frustrating to lose the device's feature that I like the most.
What can I do next? I'll buy a better watch that works.
Thanks for your help.
Another question...if I set heart rate zone 5 as vigorous and if I set 3 as moderate, does moderate also include 4? Regardless of these settings, the intensity minutes are not close to being right. Thanks,
Do you use a Garmin Edge simultaneously? I find that Edge workouts that I do with Zwift won’t register any intensity minutes if done as an activity. Only activities recorded on my venu seem to.
Are you just using the Venu or are you recording the activity on a different device for zwift?
Thanks for responding. I have a Garmin Edge but do not use in on indoor training. I do use a Tickr HR monitor and save my Zwift workouts into both Garmin and Strava. All the data punches out correctly. But intensity minutes rarely registers correctly.
Hi Amber - I use a Tickr HR monitor and upload the results from Zwift into Garmin and Strava. Intensity Minutes used to register well about nine months ago. It rarely works now.
Could the HR Monitor have something to do with it? Could it be how the activity is classed? It really doesn't work that well for other activities anymore either. In Garmin connect, the workout data always looks great. When I look at individual days in my seven day average HR in Garmin Connect on my iPhone, my low HR of around 44 or 45 looks good every day, but my high for the day never matches up to my high HR from my workouts. Could this be related?
