Sleep tracking is not working at all

First night I went to bed at 2am, got up at 7am, The sleep tracker said I went to sleep at 10:15pm. I was walking around at that time.

Second night, I purposely looked at it after I woke up, it looked like it measured my sleeping time correctly.

Later i checked it and it was completely wrong, it changed it to have extra hours. it says I was in REM sleep when I was walking around.

Is it randomly making up information? How can I trust any readings from the watch.

The Fitbit I had before this worked perfectly well tracking sleep. if the Garmin is just making stuff up, I'll return it

  • Well, the sleep tracking on Garmin devices is to put it nicely - primitive. So until Garmin improves it there's nothing you can do about it. I switched from fitbit too and I don't regret because my Venu is far more superior. But the sleep tracking is absolutely useless.

  • Yeah, compared to Fitbit, Garmin's sleep tracking is useless.  I have to adjust every day, based on my best guess.  Otherwise, it counts all my reading or just lying in bed as light sleep.  It's like something from 2013.

I know that Firstbeat has a sleep tracking algorithm, does anyone know if it's any good?

If it is even a little better, Garmin should push it to the Venu, because as is, the Venu is largely useless as a sleep tracker.

So sad... too late to view this, I just got my Venu. T_T

  • I think many people will. I am sure the Venu is a present for many and the sleep tracking is really a let-down. My fitness band from Honor which was around 30 $ was pretty accurate when it comes to sleep tracking.

The Firstbeat sleep tracking is hopefully better but I feel we don't get any more major features on that watch.

  • Anyone knows if the sleep tracking is better when you switchthe data recording to each second from intelligent?

  • No, smart recording affects GPS position recording and has nothing to do with sleep tracking.
