Venu SQ Always-On display

As the Venu SQ doesn't have an Amoled-Display, does the option to switch on the Always-On-Display can damage the screen?

  • Always on is also involved in preserving battery.  If it's off, the battery will last longer.

This isn't an issue with Memory In Pixel (MIP) on most other Garmin watches.

  • Thanks jim_m_58. But how is it compared to the Amoled-display of the Garmin Venu? Regarding Phones I think only phones with Amoled-Display have an Always-On-Display, not only because of the battery life, but as far as I know AOD can damage normal displays. When choosing this option on the Garmin Venu SQ, there is the message "it may impact display longevity".

  • Yes, there's a chance of that too.  Infact in CIQ apps, there's a flag called "requiresBurninProtection".

Under normal conditions with a watch face, it's limited to 10% of the pixels being on at any time, and no single pixel can be on more than 3 minutes.

  • Would you recommend the Always-On-Display on the Venu SQ? And if only during the night this option is switched off?

  • The things I mentioned are to both prevent burnin and preserve battery.  "Always on" is a trade off when it comes to battery
