Watch band falls off - any QR pins that work?

I dislike the stock watch band on the Venu.  I'm constantly adjusting the fit because it's too loose or too tight.  I bought some third party bands from Amazon (as I did previously with my fitbit versa with zero issues) and the bottom pin kept falling off.  So I went back to the stock band.   This weekend the bottom pin of the stock band fell off!  I find this to be ridiculous.  I can't risk my watch falling on concrete.   I searched and saw others have had the same problem  Has anyone found pins that prevent this?

Another note: if Garmin has some slightly longer pin length so that third party bands fall off - I sure wish they would offer the band that tucks into itself.  I suppose that's the band the Apple Watch is known for.  I saw the new Fitbit Sense comes with that band style.  That's the style that works best for me and the style I always buy from Amazon.  I am so frustrated to have to deal with my watch falling off!

  • I feel your pain.  I really dislike the stock band; it doesn't breathe well and starts slipping around as soon as I work up a sweat.  If I wear it tight enough to keep it from slipping, it is too tight and irritates my wrist.

It would be great if Garmin would either offer more options for bands, or just sell their proprietary-length quick release pins so that we can use them in other bands.

  • Is it true that their pins are not a standard length?

In my case, my stock band has fallen off.  Which is using the pins provided by Garmin.  So the is an issue.  Having my watch fall off is not cool.

  • yikes!  I've only had issues with third party bands.  My stock band is very secure.

  • Right. Until this weekend my problem was third party. But as I said in the original post - this weekend it was my stock band.  Which surprised me and that really sucks. Now I have no trust that my watch isn't going to fall off.

I wonder if I can get 22mm pins and somehow grind them to be 20.5 or whatever proprietary length Garmin has decided to use.

  • Here's what I ended up doing to use a third-party band: I removed the pins from the stock band and replaced the pins in the third-party band with them. It was relatively easy and worked a treat.

  • I was going to do that - but my STOCK band fell off.  Which is the disappointing part.

  • Dang, that seems like a defect. I would contact Garmin and have them replace the watch. The stock pins on mine work, but true, they do not seem to be standard--I think the lug holes (where the pins insert) are larger than standard.

  • I've wondered about the holes as well.  It's really disappointing to not be able to use third party bands.  Especially since Garmin doesn't offer sizes of their bands.  I have a small wrist so I always had small fitbit bands.  The stock Garmin band is just too much on my wrist. But having it fall off is  whole other issue! Ugh.

Check the lugs on your watch, where the pins go in there should be a little metal cup there to prevent wear and stress on the resin lugs.  If they are missing the hole becomes larger and stock pins will pop out like you describe.  Contact garmin and they will likely swap out your watch as they don't provide replacement cups.

  • Mine are still in there and they look fine.
