Venu Auto-start activity?

Hi,
I work in an office environment, which means relatively small strides inside the building.

When I go outside the office, say to oversee a project site, I walk with longer strides, and after I stop walking my Venu automatically recognizes this as an activity.

But in the evenings/weekends, when I take my fast walks (~8km/hour), the watch does not recognize this as an activity.

GPS is not on by default (nor should it make any difference).

I don't press any buttons when I walk, in either environment.

Why aren't my fast walks auto-recognized as exercise activities?

Thanks.
