Brand new watch shows only 614kb of space available

After completing initial setup and updating spotify, Connect IQ says my Venu has only 614kb of free space available under "My device" tab. I am also unable to install any watchfaces and get the "Failed to install. Not enough storage available." error and "Memory Full" notifications in the app. Do I have a defective watch?

  • How may Apps are installed?  I have seven, with 4 watch faces and have 8.6MB available.  I've been using it for 5 months or so.  I must acknowledge that I don't have Spotify because I don't use my watch for listening to music, though.

    under manage storage it lists:

    1. time flies (watch face) 112k

    2. data lover (watch face) 80k

    3. Flux (watch face) 969k

    4. garmin hydration tracker 141k

    5. Spotify 274k

    Thats a total of 1.6mb used and it lists only 1.1mb free available.

  • I don't have "Manage Storage" but I suspect it is because I have so much memory available.  I have four watch faces, one device app, and two data fields.  I've had at least one activity, walking, hiking, or bicycling almost every day since I got it and I know that takes memory as well.  I could suggest resetting the watch (or asking it you purchased it used) but I think someone will be able to tell you to connect to your computer and to check how much space is taken up in a particular folder to solve your issue.  I just don't know which folder is likely to fill up with "stuff"

    Ive connected it to my PC to check and there is over 3.9gb of free space. Manage storage is a function of the Garmin Connect app not Connect IQ.

  • Yes, I understood you were talking about the Garmin Connect app. Mine just doesn't show manage storage.  

    I look forward to hearing what the actual solution is.

    I am having the same issue. Considering a factory reset....  annoying as it is straight out of the box and i just finished setting stuff up. 

  • There is a limit to the space CIQ apps can use on a device that's different than the total amount of storage (it's much less).  In GCM, go to the device and then "General", and then "Manage Storage", and you'll probaby see "Available Storage" and "Available Slots".  That CIQ data.

    Slots is the number of CIQ apps you have installed/how many more you can add.

    Available Storage, is how much space you have left for CIQ apps.  You'll also see what CIQ apps you have installed and how much storage each one takes.

    This isn't the same as the total amount of free space on the device.  To see that, hook to a pc and see what that says.

    For me, with a va4, Available storage is 7238k (7.2mb) and I have 14 available slots.  When I hook it to a pc, I have over 3gb free.  That is typical.

    After performing several rounds of updates CIQ now shows 10mb of storage instead of the initial 3mb . If anyone else faces this issue try checking for any updates.
