Don't stop recording automatically on completion of training session

I'm doing a run training with Coach Greg. The training plans running sessions that last a certain amount of time. After reaching the predefined duration a training session, I may want to extend the run a bit because I'm not yet back at home, or I feel so good that I'd like to go a little longer.

Desired behavior: After reaching the end of a training session, the watch continues to track in case I want to go on. The track is then stopped manually.

Actual behavior: After reaching the end of a training session, the watch automatically stops tracking. If I want to go on, I have to start a second tracklog manually, which e.g. skews statistics (thinking of longest run record etc)

Is there a way to achieve the "desired behavior"? Side-note: My friend with a Fenix 6 Pro observes the "desired behavior".

I would also like to know this!!

  • Hi. Turns out, it's pretty straight forward:

Once the training is over, the Venu shows you a summary screen. Press the "back-button" (lower button on the watch), you'll then get back to a screen where you can re-start the workout by pressing the "pause-button" (the upper button on the watch.

    Hope this helps!

  • I would like to know the opposite.  My actual behavior is that the workouts I create do not stop or pause automatically when the criteria (time/distance) is met.  My vivoactive 3 did this and I loved it.  Can't get it to happen on the Venu.

It did happen on one workout that came from Garmin coach, but I don't know how to create this behavior.

    Thank you

  • The last step of the workout will determine how the workout ends. If you have a recovery period with a fixed time or distance, the workout will end when that step is completed. If you prefer an open recovery period, use "Lap press" for the last step of the workout.

This is the same for all Garmin devices that allow workouts to be loaded.

  • I still dont see a response that makes the recording continue.  I got a venu SQ for the wife and she wants to continue the recording automatically like my 245 does.  why is the Venu behaving differently from the 245?
