Garmin Venu Gestures not working

Garmin Venu Gestures not working. The only way to see your run data screens is to hit the lap button.
Do not disturb is set to off, During sleep is set to off. Sleep time is 10pm to 5am.
Gesture mode is set to always on with sensitivity set to high.
SW version is 4.00.

No 3rd party downloads and have tried resetting many times.

Hope it's not junk, but appears that way. It's two weeks old.

Others with this watch do not have this problem.

The watch may not be detecting your heart rate properly. If it doesn’t think it is being worn, then gestures won’t work. You can test this by taking the watch off, covering the heart rate sensor with your finger and then turning the watch as if making a wrist gesture.

Yes, the heart rate monitor feature is not working. It has been tried on my and others.
But now I have a heart rate monitor issue.

Could not figure it out so I just returned it. Seems like it was busted.
