Why dont we have Training effect in the Venu?

I really miss this info field from my old forerunner 235. Please Garmin add this info field to the Venu. Many Users will appreciate it. I gave 370 Euro for your product I hope to get the same amount of functions or more than in a cheaper one.

  • Alexey, would you mind sharing which options are our there to import Garmin data to and get training effect calculated? I agree wholeheartedly to your statement but failed to find a suitable solution yet...ThumbsupPray

  • I'm using https://runalyze.com/ for that. It might be connected to Garmin Connect and do automatic data import. I.e. you setup it once and then it just works. There're many different metrics being calculated and what's especially nice each metric is explained in help messages and there're even references to books or articles where those metrics came from... so it's becoming even more geeky if you will.

But there's also an open source stand-alone application https://www.goldencheetah.org/ which might do a lot as well and here you may even go learn how things are done and suggest/implement an improvement.

Still note given we're talking about interpretation of raw data in one form or another, what Garmin calculates with their Firstbeat algorithms will differ from other computations even if similar parameter is being calculated (which is not always the case BTW even if names look similar).

And I'm sure there're more like those :)

  • Yet with a laptop, the correct cable and software these things can be enabled via software.  I know, i've done it on one of my previous Fords.  No need for a hardware upgrade, just a software toggle

  • No need to be so condescending. Many people are just getting started with garmin and don't know what they need. They also purchased the watch they can afford. I had never heard of training effects until I saw a badge someone had earned. That prompted me to see if I could earn it as well.

  • +1 i'm really disappointed by that

For my part, it is also the AMOLED screen that made me adopt the Venu (and the Venu 2 that I am expecting soon)
But the TE that I discovered on my fenix 6 test is really an important and essential feature, even if you are not a pro runner, you can be a fitness athlete.
I was on Polar before switching to Garmin, and I really appreciated during my "Les Mills" indoor training, the "training load pro" (equivalent to the Garmin traing effect), which is present from the Polar ignite, which costs only 200 € ...
It's really incredible that Garmin did not add the TE to the Venu when it is a product dedicated to fitness .......

  • I think that instead of porting TE to Venu, Garmin is thinking about making Fenix hybdrid with AMOLED. As if you look to amount of models that's the path they always chose, that's their business model to create a lot of niche devices instead of making fewer but really versatile ones.

And adding TE would be good of course, but it can be solved either as Alexey suggested or having cheaper Forenner just for running(I think that's what Garmin expect you should do). But if so, I wonder what Garmin thinks about what device we should have exclusively for a reliable sleep tracking? (presumably 3rd party one as I'm wearing Huawei band just to correct my Garmin stats).

  • I moved from HUAWEI to GARMIN because HUAWEI intentionally limits some good functions to IOS APP.. Clearly HUAWEI did not like APPLE.

Now I realize that GARMIN is doing the same to its customers.

on this subject of the ripple effect, iOS or Android are entitled to the same functionalities. the absence of the ripple effect is related to the watch, not to the operating system of the smartphone

  • I liked audio prompt in my Garmin 35 a lot. When I searched VENU functions I thought it would be there by default. But GARMIN intentionally omits that on VENU.
