No respiration during activities

I've found that after completing a run, there is never any respiration information.  I can only see my breaths per minute for the rest of the day/night.  But there's a big gap in the information whenever I go for a run.  That would be the only time I'm actually interested in my breaths per minute, is this expected behavior?

  • Are you using a HR strap or the Optical HR sensor?

As far as I know respiration only works with a HR strap during an activity due to the accuracy and sensitivity required.

  • I am just using the optical sensor on the watch.  It just seemed odd that the time when the info is most useful it didn't work.  but I understand that accuracy could be more difficult while running.  Any HR strap can provide respiration info to the watch?  I couldn't find any info on this in the manual.

  • I'm wearing a Vivoactive 4 and would also be interested in unit respiration and Pulse Ox data during exercise activities. I'm using the optical sensor on the watch, but would be willing to consider an HR strap.  Which strap is recommended?
