Garmin Venu, Edge 520 Plus, Kickr Core trainer. How do I use them together with Garmin Connect

I have a Venu watch, an Edge 520 plus, and a Kickr Core smart trainer.

Ideally I'd like the body battery, HR stats, and calories burned to be accurate in Garmin Connect but I have no idea how to get it to work. Should I always where my watch? If I use my 520 to record an outdoor mountain bike ride the HR stats don;t show up in my Garmin Connect HR daily chart, they do show up in the activity HR chart though. Are calories being double counted??

Anyone else have this issue or has anyone played around with the best way to manage this?

  • Garmin Connect doesn't combine or TrueUP HR data from activities that have been recorded on devices that don't support all day HR.  I know.  I wish it did.  I've suggested it before.

So in your case it sounds like you weren't wearing the Venu whilst Mountain Biking, would that be correct?  If you want all day HR then you have to wear a device that records all day HR or use a device like the Venu to record the activity in the first place.  HR data recorded on a device that supports all day HR will populate your HR data (+ it will probably be more accurate than that recorded by the optical HR sensor).

    Regards

  • I was wearing the Garmin Venu but I was also wearing a Garmin HR chest strap connected to my Garmin 520+ bike computer. The chest heart rate strap is way more accurate than the venu during exercise. Maybe I'll try logging the activity on both the 520 and the venu to see if that works better.

  • AR the moment I do not have a Venu, but I’m really thinking about buying one.

Anyway you could pair the Venu with the hr strap to better record the hr during the activity and continue to record and upload the MTB with the edge
