Garmin Venu watch Wifi issues

I just bought a Garmin Venu watch and can’t connect it to my wifi and  I have done everything that I know of to try get it to connect but it just won’t. Very Frustrating!
This watch was a Christmas present and I’m about to take it back if not resolved as this should not be this hard to connect a wifi capable watch to the internet..

  • Do you know what protocol your Wi-Fi is using? It's possible that WPA2 is not supported.

I’m not sure but every time I go to connect it the watch says I correct password. ( which is a lie) I have re set the watch and re done everything on it hoping it would fix the problem but it has not :/ I am beyond frustrated !

  • Suggest contacting  Garmin support via phone, email or chat if there is no response here. Until then, most of the Venu features can still be used with Bluetooth connection to your phone and the iOS app.

I have a similar problem and I reached out to Garmin chat. They told the following requirements for Garmin Venu for WiFi to work properly

    • 2.4 GHz band
    • 802.11 B or G (N and AC are not supported, nor is 802.1x)
    • WEP / WPA / WPA2 security (WPA-Enterprise is not supported)
    • Channels 1-11 for North American devices, channels 1-13 for International devices
    • Music devices do not support a hidden SSID

    This is kind of ridiculous.

    FWIW

i can change my wifi router to any of the following 3 modes and none of them work.

    - 802.11 n

    - 802.11 g/n

    - 802.22 b/g/n

    also i have

    - 5ghz band disabled 2.4ghz band enabled

    - ssid is visibile.

    - WPA2 (personal) security setting

    - channel 6

I can only update music when using my phone as a mobile hotspot.

This is very frustrating, I use the router that came with my broadband/tv package and its from one of the largest broadband providers in the uk.

  • My understanding is that mobile broadband is not compatible with garmin vivoactive music. It worked fine with my Virgin Media provider before I changed. I did try without success changing the router settings to 2.4gh and using my phone as a Hotspot but no luck there either.

Throwing in the towel now as life's too short. Shame though!

Hello. I guess I am a bit late here, but I had the same problem: watch reporting incorrect password although password was correct. Auth mode is WPA2. Solution: installed Garmin express on PC, connected USB cable to PC, registered watch and changed Wi-Fi information inside the app, watch connected to the WiFi network immediately. Hope this helps someone. Cheers from Southern Brazil.
