Firmware Update not possible?

Hi guys,

how can I actually update the firmware of my Venu just with Garmin Connect and without my computer?

When I click on Settings -> System -> Firmware Update it searches for Wifi and then it says Transfer starts and after 15sec Transfer finished.

I have done that two days ago, however it still says that I am on Firmware 3.2...

At first I thought it is because I am using the Garmin all the time, but I also was not wearing it for 3 hours yesterday and it didn't update in that time.

How can I force the Garmin to do the update?

And another question: Can I somehow configure that my Garmin only connects to my phone via Bluetooth when the Connect App is open - to safe Battery of both, watch and phone?

Thanks guys!

  • When you pull down new FW with Wifi or by way of your phone, the default is is will be installed "tonight", but if you have an update pending, you can check under Settings>System>Sofwater Update.

It could be that your device isn't in the currect batch to update, as it looks like the rollout is at 50% (only have the devices will get the new FW).  FW gets rolled out to all devices over a few days.

You can't get it until it's available for your specific device.

  • In Settings -> System -> Software Update it always tells me it is downloading something and then it is finished.

However, it seems not to be installed. Is there no action to manually do the update directly?

i am on FW 3.2, so at least 3.5 should be available for me right?

Should be, yes. Something I've tried is to hold any of the buttons down until the watch shuts completely off, plug it into a power source like you're going to charge it and then turn it back on and let it cycle through. I was able to clear up a stuck update that way.  Rumor is it's like a hard reset.  Hope it helps, GL
