No GPS Signal (GPS Firmware Version 0.0)

Dear all,

After having bought the Venu last week, I wanted to start an activity with GPS today. However, I did not get a signal at all. Now, the watch is lying outside on the balcony for over half an hour waiting for GPS and still no signal.

Additionally, in the info-section the GPS FW version is 0.0 while the general FW is 3.50. I did not try GPS before upgrading to 3.50.

I read that some users have similar issues with other Garmin wearables and I tried all the possible fixes that helped the others:

Hard reset
Power off and on again (about 100 times)
Update via Garmin Connect Mobile
Update via Garmin Express
Delete content of the folder RemoteSW on the watch and update again
Wait and try to get a signal (see above...) before starting diverse apps using GPS
Try GPS only, GPS+Glonass, GPS+Galileo

Until now, nothing worked.

Are there others having the same issues or are there any further suggestions? If not, I guess I just have to involve support and send it in for repair/ exchange.

For me, it was the only thing that worked. Never had any problems with the replacement so far.

Start up a GPS activity, and when you get a fix, the version number should show correctly (it does on other devices)

Hi Jim,

The problem is that I don't get a fix even after more than half an hour.

So either there is some problem with the GPS firmware, or the GPS module is broken. :/

Have you tried what some call a hard reset? Hold the upper right button until the watch turns itself off and then turn it back on. (I think of it more as a reboot/soft reset, as you don't lose anything)

I have exactly the same issue; Took the Venu with me to Nepal and Bhutan, and now upon return in The Netherlands cant get the GPS to work anymore...When I start an activity, it states ""wait for GPS"....

As a further software update didn't help either, I just sent it back to Garmin and received a new one after one week. Now it works flawlessly. So maybe consider that also, Garmin is quite helpful.

I could observe the same thing with FW 0....but after 20 minutes for the first sync in the backyard i see a fw version and everythiung went OK.
Dont ask me wich, i send my venu back. In not sure if the device need a wlan or Smartphone for the initial sync.

So it sounds like the only fix for this is a replacement? Mine is brand new and has never connected to GPS due to this.
