Intensity Minutes

I walk every day, intensity minutes are recorded.

I did a cardio workout later with a higher heart rate than my walking and recorded not even 1 intensity minute.

  • I have had struggled with intensity minutes and have figured out the following:

    1) It has to be 5 consecutive minutes of the moderate or vigorous heart rate before it will count them as intensity minutes at all so if you’re stopping for a water break or doing HIIT it won’t count them if the HR dips below the moderate or vigorous intensity at all during that 5 minute period.

     2) Next, check in the app under User Settings, heart rate zones what HR you are defining for zone 3 and zone 4 keeping in mind that 70-85% of max HR (220-age) is considered vigorous.  Bearing that in mind I set my Zone 4 at 70-85 and my zone 3 as 63-71%.  I chose not to go below 63% as I didn’t want to get moderate minutes counting while I was doing something as simple as easy housework.

    3) Lastly in the app under Activity Tracking, Weekly Intensity Minutes, check what zones you have selected for moderate and vigorous.  Based on my answer above in #3, I have zone 3 set for moderate and zone 4 for vigorous.

  • Thank you again for your answers, they are much appreciated and helpful.

Zone 3 is set at 70/80% moderate  Zone 4 is set at 80/90% vigorous.

I have noticed sometimes it adds intensity minutes, other times it gives me nothing.

I will now have to take notes.
