Sleep is not being tracked correctly. Sometimes doesn't even know I'm asleep.

Went to sleep at 9:30 pm Monday and woke at 3:30 am Tuesday. My watch tracked this sleep almost perfectly.

Went about my day, work, shopping etc.

Went to sleep at 7:30 pm Tuesday and woke at 11:30 pm Tuesday. My watch didn't record I was sleeping.

This isn't the first time this has happened, I often sleep more than once in a 24 hour period this watch has never recorded more than one sleep in a 24 hour period.

Previous watches (not Garmin) managed to track multiple periods of sleep per day.

Is there something I can do to fix this problem?

  • No, the Garmin can only track one sleep cycle (you setup the “normal” sleep hours in the app).  I can’t track naps.

  • That's disappointing for a shift worker that often has short turnarounds.

Previous watches Samsung and Fitbit tracked multiple sleep cycles in a 24-hour period.

If this is the case what else does it not track correctly?

I have already noticed problems with the tracking of my walk exercise, the speed I'm walking is inconsistent

I think it's going back for a refund.

  • Well I can see how that would not be good for a shift worker.  They don’t claim it can track more than night time sleep.  I don’t think any of the Garmin watches can.

With the walking exercise, it will be more accurate if GPS is on then off.

  • This has been confirmed by Garmin. Watches will only register 1 sleep episode per 24 hour period.

This is then not a fitness watch, without all sleep recorded every other feature of the watch is to be ignored.

I'll be sending it back for a refund.

  • GPS is always on.

Last night it recorded I was asleep whilst lifting weights.

I have a screenshot of that, and lucky I did because this morning it had changed.

Walking yesterday recorded 31 activity minutes, with 100/120 heart rate, but 15 mins of cardio   120/139 heart rate recorded no activity minutes.

Garmin need to explain, but they have no answers
