Venu Sq Heart Rate Accuracy Problem

I was using the Cardio app while doing some moderate cardio exercises and the heart rate went up to 140+bpm which was scary. I checked with my finger pulse oximeter and it showed 90+bpm.

Then I used the Treadmill app and performed the same cardio exercises and the heart rate was 90+bpm and matched the oximeter.

Can anyone assist to verify my findings? Thanks a lot.

  • I can confirm that this is a problem. Since the 3.30 update, my Venu Sq won't read my heart rate correctly either. It was way too high during my strength training yesterday and today it seems to be the other way around with my HR sitting around 105bpm where it would usually be 140+bpm.

Also, it seems to keep tracking even when I take the watch off.

Hope Garmin can fix this with another update.

Update: I rebooted the watch, will monitor its behavior over the next day or two and report back.

  • Hello, I have the Venu SQ and the Vivosmart 4 bracelet, the heart sensor is the same and I have always been unable to use cardio activity because it gives more than 145 beats even if I stop, I don't think this, like many other things, is in the encouragement of Garmin to solve it

  • Alright, this is officially the first time that rebooting actually solved a problem for me.

Still strange that the watch decided to act up right after the update. This should definitely not be happening.

  • That sounds terrible btw, but does not reflect my experience at all... the heart rate sensor was working just fine for me apart from this hiccup.

  • Hello, the measurement problems in the Venu Sq, with two different units and the Vivosmart 4, are in the cardio activity, the rest works well for me, I do not use this activity because it upsets the rest of the metrics.

  • My Venu Sq heart rate also seems to be very inaccurate since updating to 3.30.   It seems to be OK when resting but much lower than usual when doing cardio exercises.  I have tried rebooting a few time but it does not cure the problem.   Does anyone know how to rollback to version 3.2?
