My Venu SQ is asking for updates everyday and then fails to update. How can I stop this, it's extremely annoying?

This is the message I get several times a day:

"Software updates are available. Est. time 1 min. Install updates now?"

I have tried to install the updates and it fails and the messages just keep coming back. I have been dismissing the messages, which leads to the a message saying the Software will be updated tonight.

This is very annoying. I have connected my watch to the computer (Garmin express) today hoping it would solve this issue; unfortunately, it didn't. I have even changed the settings so that I don't get update reminders, yet the message still shows up. How can I fix this?

  • Do you have an update on Garmin Express?  There might be a notification telling you there isn’t enough memory?  Check that.  If that is the case you’ll need to remove your fit files and/or watch faces temporarily to make room for the update.

  • Please connect your Venu Sq watch to a Windows computer and follow instructions below:

    1. Open File Explorer (Windows Key + E)
    2. Open Venu (shown as a removable drive)
    3. Open 'Primary' drive
    4. Open GARMIN folder
    5. Look for a file named GUPDATE.GCD (delete it if present)
    6. Open the RemoteSW folder
    7. If any file is shown there with the .gcd extension, delete it
    8. Close File Explorer
    9. Sync your watch with Garmin Express
    10. After syncing, remove your watch from the charging cable
    11. If prompted, select "Install Now" on the watch

If this is not successful, please reach out to your local Garmin Product Support team.  To do this, type "support.garmin.com" in your address bar and use the Garmin Support Center to research your issue.  Once you get far enough in the search, you will see (at the bottom of the page) some contact options, which may include Call, Chat, and Email.
