New Venu Doesn't Sync Properly or Download Sleep Stats

I bought a new Venu SQ for my daughter. In setting it up (several times now) it fails to sync with Garmin Connect during the last step of the setup process. I get "Server Connection Error: We're having problems with the Garmin Connect Server". I can bypass and get the watch working, and it will sync steps and HR in real time, and it shows on top of home screen the green dot to show it's connected to the phone with Garmin Connect. However, when I manually sync with the blue circular arrows, it only sync's a quarter of the way and stalls out. Furthermore, there is no sync of the sleep statistics. They are being recorded, because the workaround has been me connecting through the Garmin Express. I've disconnected the device, restarted, uninstalled and reinstalled the software, did a reset of the watch, turned bluetooth on and off, but nothing works.

The phone is new, too. It's a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and all permissions have been granted.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this?  Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Software version is 3.0

  • Experiencing a similar problem, with  the  same (brand new) phone. Watch reasonably  new, used to sync OK with my previous Motorola. Paired the device to the new phone today,Now it won't  sync history (but seems to sync today's  data)

  • Have you tried a hard restart?  Sometimes turning the watch off via the power but in the control menu is not enough.  If you have not already, hold the top button for 7-10 seconds.  It will show the control menu, then the assistance screen, then finally shut down.  Leave it off for a couple of minutes, re-start, and try syncing again.

  • I've tried, thanks, it doesn't work. It looks like the dates have been registered incorrectly (years off), so doesn't show in the calendar. Won't measure stress levels anymore, and ( I'm guessing as a result) body battery stuck  on same low levels.  Used to work just fine

  • I don’t think thats unexpected.  I am not totally sure but I don’t think it uploads your activity history to a new phone even though the watch still holds the history.

That’s strange about the dates, you can set time with GPS instead of the phone if that continues to be a problem.

  • Same here!! I’ve had the watch for about 1.5 years and about a month or so ago it stopped tracking my sleep and I am having the SAME EXACT issues you’re talking about. I’ve tried everything and haven’t gotten a resolution. It’s very frustrating!!
