Venu SQ Music - can't play spotify through headphones and operate GPS for running.

I'm using a Venu SQ Music running Spotify premium from the installed app with Jabra BT buds. Music plays through the buds but as soon as I start GPS to run, music stops.

Audio message tells me "Bluetooth connected" then no device connected.

Its seems only one or the other works, not both at once which is why I purchased this watch.

I updated the Garmin Connect IQ app.  The watch is running on software version 2.70.

Help please!!

  • Can you swipe right to get to the widget and press play again?  And/or if that doesn’t work, have you tried starting the activity with GPS first, then swipe right to get to the main widget screen to load Spotify?

  • Hi Cindi. Neither of those seem to work. It seems as soon as the watch searches for GPS it disconnects the headphones. If I start the GPS first, it searches for the headphones, connects then says connected, then immediately make the disconnected noise. Whilst GPS is running, the connection to the headphones says ”searching”.

  • I have the exact same problem - am using all the exact same devices for the same reasons. Did you manage to find a solution to this?

  • Hi There.

yes I did find a solution by messaging a Garmin help service online, I think via their website.

the headphones have a feature which I think can count your steps, which conflicts with the GPS on the watch. It is a feature in the Garmin connect app which needs to be turned off. I will try to find the specific details but once deactivated it works fine.

unfortunately, I ended up losing my watch shortly after sorting this problem, so I can’t go into the settings and advise what to do. However, I’ll try to find the email I received from Garmin which will get you out of trouble.

    cheers,

    steve.

  • Hi Steve,

Great to know you managed to solve it - not so much about your lost watch though :( thanks for your advice. I’ll try to reach out to Garmin support to clarify further. Appreciate your help!

    cheers,

    Denise

  • Oh, I’ve managed to find a link on the Garmin support website addressing this exact problem. Looks like we’re not the only ones experiencing it. Thanks so much for your help!
