Venu Sq overestimating distance

Hello,

I have walked a lot today, my watch reports the following:

21135 steps and a total distance of 16.7 kilometers.

My Google Fit app on my smartphone reports : 13.09 kilometers and 20.587 steps.

Distance/Steps ratio seems quite high, do you have the impression of the Garmin watches overestimating steps or distance? I have already set up stride lengh at 0.791m (I'm 1.77m / 68kg).

  • I’d use GPS next time to double check the accuracy and then base your stride length on that.  It seems like when I don’t use GPS it shows a less distance for me so I probably don’t have the right stride length set for myself.

  • Hello, I think the estimate given by the Venu SQ is correct and adapted to your height and weight data, those of Google Fit seem to adapt more to a person with very short strides, probably a height of 1.62 cm, in any case the stride during the day varies depending on the speed you walk, it is not equal the stride on a quiet walk on a path in the field than a fast walk on smooth terrain like a smooth sidewalk in the city, so I'm inclined to think that being i amediate of a day it's quite believable that you have the stride that you indicate of 0.792 cm
