Display timeout stuck on Always On after activity with v2.50

After updating to v2.50, both Venu Sq devices in my household have this bug. After an activity the display timeout is stuck on "Always On".  If I reboot the device, then it goes back to the timeout setting it is set to "Short" until I start another activity. Of note is that these devices do have the setting of "Always On" during activities, but that should override the timeout setting after activities. This bug only started with v2.50. I can say that for sure because one of our Venu Sq devices had the new version and had the bug, whereas the other one did not until my update arrived today.

  • I suppose it's not that easy to provide a video. The watch face i use is one of the watch faces provided on the watch, not a custom one.I haven't tried a reset yet but this was not an issue with v2.40. The first time after restart i have the connect notification, but when disconnect my watch from the app and reconnect i have no notification. Thanks for your reply.

Okay the video was in response to the display not timing out, if you are able to provide that. In regards to the notifications, the issue is that you are not seeing text or calls on the watch? If so, could you go through this article to make sure all the settings are set properly?

  • Gotcha. Bummer you can't replicate. Thanks for the help so far. The issue exists and persists on my watch and my wife's Venu SQ. When I have time to reset the watch and set everything back up again I will do so and let you know what happens. Since this is on two devices already for sure, hopefully someone else reports this too and can do the reset themselves. :)

Anytime, please do let me know as I would like to get this resolved for you and your wife!

  • My girlfriend had the same on her Venu SQ. Drained from 100 to 25 in about 36 hours, and after I came across this topic I noticed the hers was on Always On even though I set it up to short timeout. No idea if the issue exists on my own Venu SQ, since I only use it as a tracker and use my fenix for activities. Will try and see tho Relieved

  • After adjusting the settings yesterday and charging it, the screen was on "Always on" again after I removed it from the charger. Changing settings had no effect, restarting the watch solved it. Tested it with my own watch, couldn't replicate the issue.

  • Exactly the same issue for me, using the Garmin watchface and "always-on" setting enabled only for activities, not in the display settings

  • I have the same issue after upgrading to v2.50. Before that everything was fine. Now after every workout I have to turn off my venu sq because my display is always on. Changed the watchface didn't help,I have tried to reset my watch, also didn't helped.

Hello! Just to verify, did you select the "Delete Data and Reset Settings" option when resetting or the "Reset Default Settings" option?

  • Hey Isabella,I've selected "Reset Default Settings" cause I didn't want my data to be deleted.

If you are willing, could I have you try to Delete Data and Reset Settings to see if this helps this issue? Any data saved on Garmin Connect will not be deleted.
