Activity not saving - Venu Sq

Went out for a walk today as I hadn't been out for a couple of days, saved the activity when I got home as normal, but it is not in my History widget or synced to my Connect app. Looking at the History widget, it has since decided to say that there are also no previous activities on there either now (though it did the first time I checked). I have restarted the watch to no avail and looking at uploading manually following advice on similar questions, and the Activity folder when connected to computer is completely empty. Even my two Yoga activities I did to test out the saving do not appear and the summaries show zeros on all the data fields.

This appears to have happened since I did the update sent through over the weekend as it wasn't a problem for my walk last week. 

Something in the update must have messed with the workings of the watch as I have also had intermittent smart notifications since then as well. This is very disappointing as I haven't even had the watch for two months yet and no idea whether it is fixable my end or whether there's a way of backtracking the last update without wiping the whole watch (I'm guessing the activities that *have* actually synced to my Connect app will remain intact if a complete reset is required??).

Also I have noticed that the menstrual tracker widget has disappeared from the watch too and is nowhere to be found on the "add more" widgets menu - what is going on??
