Inaccurate sleep data on my Venu SQ

Is there any way of adjusting the sleep settings as Venu SQ is giving me wildly inaccurate sleep data.

Now I have quite a low resting heart rate in the day and even lower at night. Last night for example I woke up suddenly at 1:30 am and was awake playing on my phone and reading stuff until 5:30 but, even though I was doing something and moving my arm with my watch on, it said I was asleep.

Any suggestions on what I can do to make this more accurate???

  • HI there! If you were laying down, its likely your HR was quite low still. Your watch will measure you being awake when your HR comes up. You can change the settings as well.

Ensuring the Most Accurate Sleep Data

    1. Wear the device at least 2 hours before bedtime and keep it on while sleeping.

    2. Make sure the device's heart rate monitor is on, and the device fits snugly but comfortably.

    3. If you have more than one activity tracker, set the device with advanced sleep monitoring as your Preferred Activity Tracker.

    4. A valid birth date must be saved in the User Settings in Garmin Connect. See Changing Device and User Settings in Garmin Connect for steps to adjust the birth date.

    5. Make sure that your average sleep and wake times are set correctly: Setting Sleep and Wake Window Times in Garmin Connect

  • 1) I had been wearing the watch all day, every day, with the exception of charging every few days, since I've had it

    2) watch is worn as directed and has been since day 1

    3) why would I be wearing multiple ones when I have this one that is supposed to do it all?

    4) my connect account has always had the correct details as I've always wanted accurate data from all my Garmin devices

    5) sleep times have been set up correctly as per set up guide

Hello! We have quite a few users who have multiple Garmin devices connected to their accounts. That is why I mentioned it being the preferred activity tracker.  Anytime you are laying down or sitting relaxing in the evening hours close to bed time the watch starts measuring the low HR and begins to measure sleep. When you wake up, if you are not up and moving around for the jump in HR it will assume you are still sleeping.

  • I adhere to all of the recommendations from Garmin-AmberD. The Forerunner 35 that I used for 4 years tracked sleep data in a useful way and seemed to coincide/accurately reflect my sleep experience.

Venu SQ does something different. These screenshots are the same sleep data. Venu SQ changed it. The first image is the same as what I saw on my Forerunner 35. The second image is the same data a few minutes later. Why does Venu SQ change its mind about the data?
