Sleep Tracking Problems

I've had my Venu Sq for about 2 months now and have noticed the same sleep tracking problems.

1) Watch often doesn't begin registering sleep until long after it should. For example I go to bed at midnight and fall asleep normally (10-15 minutes) but watch registers sleep beginning at 2:30 pm. Sometimes it registers correctly but most nights it doesn't.

2) Watch doesn't record any Deep Sleep. In two months there have been 1 or 2 nights with deep sleep.

I talked to support, they looked at my stats and said that these problems were caused because my watch was measuring too high a heart rate (75 bpm) during my sleep time . When I look at the stats my watch is registering higher heart rate than my typical resting rate (60 bpm) that I see when I'm up but relaxing.

Anyone else having this kind of problem or have any suggestions as to a fix.

  • it seems the higher heart rate is throwing off the device. i have the same issue. I would like them to include in the venu 2 a manual option to tell the watch "i am going to sleep" so that it would know when to expect it.

  • After almost six months I believe my device does alright getting my total sleep time but it still doesn't register any deep sleep and I suspect all the other sleep stats are off accordingly. I notice the watch is also quite erratic measuring exercise calories. I go the same distance at the same rate whether walking, biking or rowing but get dramatically different calories burned because the device shows considerably different heart rates. This shouldn't happen but it does.

I have been told this is due to the watch fit. I suspect this true because it is difficult to get the same positioning every time and my watch wants to drift down toward my wrist bone away from the optimum position. Anyone have any suggestions for ways to get a better more consistant fit. If not than hopefully Garmin or someone else can improve their technology to get more accurate consistant heart rate readings.

  • And what is sad the price tag. My venu 2 was $400. For that price I expect it to work better than most
