Connecting my Venu SQ Watch to pair with Zwift

I recently purchase a venu sq watch. I tried to connect the HeartRate to my Zwift but no success. I red few posts on Garmin and Zwift, but it still unclear for me to settle if it's possible or not to connect the watch to the Zwift app. Virtual run, ANT+, Bluetooth still an issue for me. Should I get a refund?

Thanks.

Hello! You should be able to broadcast the HR from the Venu Sq to an ANT + compatible device (Usually an ANT + USB stick). Make sure to go into the Menu > Settings > Wrist Heart Rate > Select Broadcast In Activity (to broadcast heart rate data during timed activities) or Broadcast (to start broadcasting heart rate data now). Let me know if this helps.

  • Hi, I've had no problem using my Venu Sq with Zwift, it only broadcasts over ant+ though so you need a device that has this built in or a separate dongle. I connect directly to the Zwift app on my Samsung phone.

  • Hi this is a little late but I'm wondering how you managed to pair? I have the exact same as you- Venu SQ and a Samsung phone but not had luck getting it to pair/read my HR from the Venu SQ

  • Literally just turn on the heartrate broadcast on the watch and pair in the pairing screen on Zwift. My Samsung is an A40, so not even a flagship or recent model. Does your Samsung definitely have Ant+? Having a quick Google suggests that the S21 ultra for instance doesn't have Ant+.

  • Just wanted to reply to this because it took me hours of researching and hopefully can help the next person in a black hole of confusion.

To get Zwift or another training app to read your watch as a heart rate monitor only, it needs to be done over ANT+.

If you're using Zwift/training app on your laptop, you need to buy an ANT+ dongle. About $25-50AUD.

If you're using Zwift/other on your mobile, note that many newer phones DO NOT appear to have ANT+ capability built in, but older ones do- I know, weird and annoying. My Samsung Galaxy S8 can read my Garmin perfectly on the Zwift app as a HR monitor, my brand new S21 does not. To see whether your phone is ANT+ capable on Android, download the app 'ANT+ tester' on the Play Store. You want to see 'Built in ANT+ Detected' with a green 'yes' next to it. There are a few other additional things you might need to actually make ANT work, and that app actually has a little download icon next to each service if you need to download an additional thing to get ANT working (as long as it is in fact ANT capable).

This this helps! I just switched to my old S8 when training and it works perfectly.

  • I use to have problems, Venu SQ + Samsung S8. But after installing Ant-Test from Google Play, I activate the Ant service (It was power off) and now is working!! thanks!! :)

  • I got it to work. Connect a dual mode heart rate monitor to the venu.
