Battery drain or display problem

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with the battery of m'y New SQ. I charged my SQ for 1 hour from 20% to 100%. I do not use Bluetooth. Si, for the first 2.5 days, the battery hardly drain at 80-85%, but in my third Day, it drasticly drains from 80% to 50% in 3-4 hours. Then 10% in m'y fourth Day, and drasticly during the night of m'y fourth Day from 40% to 0%...

I have reboot my watch, and i am testing m'y second week. So faire, i am at 50% with the same problem as before.

Is it a known issue and how to fix it ?

Thank you all in advance.

Do you have Garmin IQ apps / watchface installed?

To check a defective watch do a rest and use everything in the standard way

  • Thank you for your answer.

I have installed map app the first Day but uninstalled it right away.

So we can say that i use it in the standard way.

I Will test a factory reset then, but not sure that it Will resolve the problem as i never really installed something.

Yes, do a factory reset, I have no trust in the Garmin IQ apps, even if they are uninstalled, there may still be leftovers. The pulse oximeter, which is always on, sucks the battery empty, sometimes less quickly, sometimes slowly.

  • Do you have Pulse OX set to “All Day”?  If so, I’d change that to During Sleep or Off to see if you see a difference in how the battery drains.  I’d also turn off always on display if its on to see if that makes a difference.  You can always turn them back on later.

  • Same here: charged on 20th and yesterday evening I had 50% battery (on 3rd day so OK) but this morning waking up i had low battery alert and the battery was... 5%

So, either there are processes or apps consuming the battery (during the sleep ?!) either the battery percentages isn't real or updated correctly.

I've just reset the watch few days ago...

  • There are several things that can drain your batter faster.  Pulse OX, always on display, hours of GPS or Music playback etc.  With Pulse OX on at night I only get at the most 4 days of battery life, with it off I get about a week so you have to look at what you’re using and weight it against the benefits of using it for a reduced battery life.

  • This is an abnormal consumption of almost 40% over night.

The display settings was on but it shutdown over night so there is no reason for such important drain of battery.

Maybe it helps you to lock the touchscreen at night? I only used 5% battery that night (50% -> 45%) and an hour of running also only uses 5% battery for me, so everything is great for me.

  • Locking up the screen could be a solution as it's very easy indeed to start accidentally an activity.

There is a way to do it this automatically during the sleep time?

No, I don't know .. I've been wearing the watch on the right for a few days and I noticed that my sleeve over the watch often starts a Witget and stays on because the sleeve always activates the Witget when I'm unlucky. Maybe it’s like that with you at night, who knows ...
