Not sure where to post this since it covers three different devices, Forerunner 745, Vector 3 and Edge bike computers.
We have spin bike at home with no sensors or anything, I would like to get watt readings from it so I've been looking into buying the Vector 3 pedals and also one of the Edge bike computers to get a better overview of the readings while on the bike. Currently I'm using a Forerunner 745 to record heart rate and time and I would like to continue to use it to actually record my workouts, I think I've read that it's possible to use the watch as the main device and the Edge bike computer as a display?
The tricky part is that other family members are using the spin bike on rare occasions, when they use it would be good if they could see readings from the Vector 3 pedals and the workout time on the Edge bike without using a watch (my watch).
Is it possible to set it up for these two scenarios:
1) When I'm using the bike with my Forerunner 745 the workout is recorded using the watch. The watch take watt readings from the Vector 3 pedals and the Edge bike computer syncs to the watch and is only used as a display to shows hear rate, time and watt (all from the watch).
2) When someone else is using the bike without a watch, the Edge bike computer is used as the main device, starts the workout and displays time and watt readings from the Vector 3 pedals without any watch being involved.
Is it possible set it up like that?
Another simpler approach but perhaps more costly would be to not include the watch at all. Use the Edge as the main device connected to the Vector 3 and a chest strap for heart rate, then the bike compare will also be able to display all the readings. Then I'll delete any workout synced to my account that someone else did since I'm the only one interested in having my workouts on Garmin Connect. I guess this will always work right?
