O Ring Gasket (between pedal and pod)

I am going to be moving my original version Vectors (dual) from an older spin type bike to a newer one. The O Ring Gasket that lives between the pod and the pedal is basically not salvageable on one pedal. I assume that, given that I will never be outdoors with this pedal, that I should still try and find a replacement for that O ring. Is that right? It is interesting that this O-ring does not show up in the exploded picture in the manual. I tried to show the location below.

There is no external O-ring like that on Vector 1. Not sure where that came from. The only O-ring is on the spindle in the pedal body

Thanks for the quick response. So just to be sure that we are communicating.. starting at the pedal body and working inward toward the bike you have (in order)

pedal body
pod
maybe some washers
crank
pod cap (#4 in the pic above)

You are saying that there is NO O-Ring between the pedal body and the pod (where that O-Ring would be around the external part of the spindle).

If that O-Ring really does not belong there, it was probably put on by my LBS. IIRC, I bought the Vectors from them and they installed them. Later I moved them to an indoor bike and the O-Rings might have come along with that step. And I am inclined to think that you are correct since that O-Ring does not show up in the drawing in the manual.

Definitely no O-ring there. Typically O-rings are there as a seal to prevent dust or water accessing something. There is nothing to actually seal there.
