Vector 3 : No longer see L/R balance or other details in Garmin Connect

Hi,

I have got some Vector 3's, and I generally look at my rides in Strava.

Strava doesn't have the LR/Balance, smoothness, etc., and generally I don't pay them too much heed.

I recently injured my knee and I am getting back to cycling and want to see how this has affected my L/R balance.

However I have just notice in Connect, I haven't been getting L/R balance since May 2020.  On May 9th my ride has the data, next time i ride may 16th it doesn't

I have changed from a520 to a 520 since then, i have changed the batteries at least once.  on the pages it says Vector 3 with 3.8, but i am not sure if it is showing current state or state that that point - it has the firmware of the 520 as well, but who knows?

all i can think of is i gave up on the cheast HRM at some stage and actually run my garmin 945 as well, broadcasting HR, so they are both "seeing" the V3's  ... wondering if this could be an issue?

any help appreciated.

thanks

c

  • Left/Right balance is outside of the Cycling Dynamics control. Check that the system has not somehow become unpaired and is now working as a single sided system.

When in communication with the pedals check the sensor about page for them and see if it reports both pedals.

  • Thanks Mate!

So to give some detail so any other poor souls can more easily solve this.  Firstly my expectation would have been if it was running single it would show up as a Vector 3s, but no.

So i went into the Garmin app to check, but it would not show up there, but it was showing up on the head unit (second aside, historically if i have had issue it has said "right pedal missing", when only one pedal was present or something like that.)

So i deleted the device from the garmin app and deleted the bluetooth connection on my iphone (Settings -> Bluetooth), then i re-added the device via the garmin app, which included re-paired via bluetooth, following the instructions in the garmin app.

You will need the pedal id on both pedals, so if you like me have trouble reading them - get this first.  Then after pairing the pedal it asks to link the right pedal, which i did (using the id)

The first time i did it - i actually put the right pedal as the left and the left as the right, just to be clear, it doesn't work this way, but it does let you do it!

On the 530 head unit - i had to go in into the menu > sensors > selected the V3's i had already paired and added the right pedal, you need the id here as well ... i am not sure why this isn't automated, and i can't remember having to do it before - but i had to this time, then it was all working ... position, L/R balance, L/R Platform offset, Power Phase Start/End

but once again thanks to aweatherall for pointing me in the right direction ... i probably should have thought of that myself earlier, the second step (after turn it off and on again), should always be, delete it and start again.

    thanks again aweatherall!

  • Good to know you have it fixed. Not sure what caused them to be become unpaired.
