I have changed my batteries at least three times and had my pedals for 8 months and have not had a single problem with the o-rings. I would suggest you look at the battery cap and the track in the pedal body that the o-ring sits in to make sure there is no foreign objects, cuts, or sharp metal sticking up that could be cutting the o-ring. They should not be snapping under normal use.
the o-rings are, along with the whole "metal into plastic thread" fiasko, not that practical. As soon as you don't place the cap perfectly on the pedals (or tighten it a bit too far) the o-ring is pulled to the outside and extremly prone to snapping. if you buy the 60€ battery door replacement thing you get two additional o-rings (lol).
Already used the ones of the old doors !! I change my batteries every month as they are used frequently so approx 13 times only recently did this issue arise. My question was if anyone had found an alternative? as these cannot be purchased as far as I am aware.
