Battery Cover

With all the issues reported , has the battery cover been modified. If so, can I get one ?
  • I desperately need one too. My pedals aren’t working either. Also damaged the threads in the main pedal body with all the diagnosing I’ve been doing. Every problem that others have mentioned on the forum is what I’m having as well.

power spikes and dropouts, right sensor missing etc

I’ve just cycled circa 300km in the last 3 days and tried everything to get them working but no joy. Very unhappy and only had them three months. I need to get in touch with Garmin tomorrow.

it seems like both a hardware and software problem for me. I’ll be hoping to get some replacement pedals as there’s no way the internal thread in the main pedal body should strip that easily. I’d be very worried about longevity.
  • I was having issues with both the power dropouts (caused by the battery cover?) & the internal threads which stripped very easily (while messing with the cap, battery replacements, tiny plastic tabs and/or taping the batteries together). Garmin was kind enough to send me replacement pedals promptly, which I haven't had the chance to test out yet, but I'm having serious concerns with longevity of Garmin 3 pedals.
    Positives:
    - Garmin sent replacement pedals promptly
    Negatives:
    - Replacement pedals are identical to the original ones. The battery cover and internal threads are identical to those on the damaged/original pedals. How are things supposed to work out better in the future?
I hope Garmin is working on long-term fixes, because I don't see how these pedals can last. I used PowerTap P1 pedals for two full years without having issues with the internal threads stripping out. They did have somewhat similar issues with their battery caps initially, which they quickly resolved via an improved cap which resolved the connectivity problem. I am now regretting the move from PowerTap P1 (established, reliable platform) to Garmin Vector 3 (growing pains, despite being on 3rd generation). I wish I had waited longer to see how the Vector 3's perform before committing $1,000 :(
