Brand new V3S no power/cadence

It connected to my 800, 910XT, GCM, and Strava app fine, but not getting any data. I got a short burst of 80w once, and another time of 39 RPM, but no actual data. Anyone else have this issue?
  • The head unit settings from the 800, and 910 will override any settings you try to set through GCM. Additionally, it is possible for the settings from the multiple head units to conflict if they happen to be different, and if you have the multiple head units all active and connected to your Vector 3 pedal at the same time.

The simplest beginning configuration is to use your Edge 800.

First, make sure that your GCM connection is not active on your phone - wake up your pedal by giving it half a spin, then go to the GCM app on your phone and 'remove' Vector 3 by sliding its icon to the left and then clicking on the 'remove' field.
Then use your Edge 800 to search for a power meter - it should find the Vector 3 system. The ID it displays may not be the same as the one etched onto the Vector 3 spindle, because older Garmin head units only use a 5 digit ID.
When The Edge 800 finds your Vector pedal, go to the bike setup menu and enter your crank length in the appropriate field.
Then do a calibration from the Edge menu so that the pedal gets its zero offsets correct.

Now go ride. You should see proper cadence and power within about ten pedal strokes once you're in the 60 to 90 RPM range.

You can add your 910XT to the mix by letting it search for the power meter also, and you should see the same ID. Make sure you also enter the same crank length on the 910XT.

GCM is useful as a firmware management tool (and to manage the pairing of your left pedal with a right pedal, should you upgrade), but it will not display the pedal's power output while you ride. You can do that on your phone using one of several different 3rd party training software tools.
