Firmware Installation/Transfer every time the pedals wake up (Build 3.00)

Dear everyone, dear Garmin Vector support team,
I want to report my issue with new Vector 3 pedals.

After upgrading to Version 3.00 the following happens:
- Pedals wake up
- Pedals flashing red/green (transfer mode)
- Right pedal requires a lot of time
- Right pedal flashes 20x red (installation/transfer failed)
- Pedals connect to Headunit(s) (Edge 820, FR935, PC via BLE or ANT+, GCM)
- Headunit(s) and GCM report Software Version 3.00
- Pedals are working correctly

After finishing the ride the pedals go to sleep. After waking them up, the cycle repeats.

If I remove and insert the batteries in the right pedal after the (failed) transfer/installation and while they are connected to the Edge, the Edge reports "mismatching software".
Sounds like the right pedal reboots with Build 2.30.

I have tested the following:
- Pedal reset
- Disconnected from all devices
- Reseted Edge 820 (soft and hard)
- Replaced the batteries
- Un- and re-paired the sensor with the head unit
- Un- and re-paired left and right pedal
- Replaced the batteries of the pedals
- Removed .GCD files from RemoteSW on Edge filesystem [1]

No change in the situation.

Additional information
- upgraded from firmware version 2.30
- upgraded via Edge 820
- Devices are within range (<1m)
- Deactived 2.4GHz WiFi
- Pedals are just 1 week old!
- Had one ride with Build 2.30, but everything was fine

I will return the pedals to the dealer in the next days. Maybe someone has similar problems and Garmin has a solution. The support call center agent did not have a solution, just the recommendation to return it to the dealer (because Garmin has no spares in stock) for a replacement or refund (if the dealer has no spares in stock as well).

Depending on the presence of a solution I will take my decision if I will stay with this product (sound not production ready yet, if you read the threads in this forum) or look for something other.
In the meantime, I will go back to the Vector 2.

(Used a lot of Garmin products, but I am very disappointed at the moment and not sure of the quality of the current products)

I had the same issue. I connected my Garmin to my PC and I removed .gcd from RemoteSW folder on my Garmin Edge 1000. Problem solved for me.
Looks like the update file stayed on my Garmin and tried to install every time.

Thank you. Tried it just now: no improvements.
The Vector pedals are flashing and trying to install even if all kind of head units are shutdown.

Dear PatzeDE, can you please advise if and how you rectified your issue detailed above? As I am experiencing the exact same frustrating issue where the V3 appears to be updating every time the pedals wake up. My pedals are brand new. Never used and updated from 3.5 to 3.6 today - the day I got them.
    thank you in advance,
    Regards, Mick
  • I reported this problem on the forum last summer. Garmin replied that this is normal, but that doesn't seem right. I also called in to support and they logged it as a bug.

I am now on the very latest firmware and this is still happening 9 months later.

The old thread is here: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into...eup-every-time

    Here's what I reported:
I updated the firmware in my new Vector 3 dual pedals to version 3.5 and both the Edge 520 and GCM show that version as installed. However, when waking the pedals, the left one always flashes 1 red followed immediately by 3 green (this is totally normal I understand) but is then followed by roughly a 2 second pause then 20 green flashes, then stops. This happens every time the pedals wake up. According to the documentation the green flashes means the FW update completed successfully when first installed, but should it display this status sequence every time the pedal wakes up thereafter? Or is there a problem? The manuals are not clear.
While this is happening on the left side, the right pedal shows the normal 1 red, 3 green, then stops. All good, I assume.
There are no devices connect to the pedals in this scenario, neither my 520 nor GCM on iOS.
