V3 drop outs

On my two recent rides on my indoor bike, I've been experiencing dropouts from V3. I'm riding the exactly same setup, fresh batteries - no nothing changed....?!

Check out these files

From 1:33:49 to 1:35:09 - note the spike as well. Cadence dropped to zero in this case.

Yesterdays ride as well; from 1:05:39 to 1:06:48. Also here, note the spike at 48:03...

Any ideas? Everything is the same as always...!

Edit: recorded with an Edge 1030
  • T_Smith, I have emailed a FIT file to the vector.beta email address yesterday. I replaced my batteries last week, following the recommendations with light machine oil and checking the insulation tape. On my first outdoor ride after the change, I seemed to have lost about 1h30 of cycling dynamics data. So I guess I am also in the list of dropouts. As other posters, I would like to confirm what the issue is.

    Thanks!

You are getting right side resets. More, in the two most recent files. So you may have to inspect the right side battery installation and see if something is now out of place.

I'm also seeing some of the 3 second power zero's that are usually associated with configuration conflict so there is possibly something going on in that vein as well.
The Edge settings are 175mm crank length, auto zero enabled, TE/PS enabled, cycling dynamics enabled. Was another receiver (a watch or the like) also connected to your pedals?

Thanks, I'll take another look at the right battery later and see if anything's slipped.

As regards confliction, I record my rides on my fenix 5 and my Edge 1030 - I upload the f5 recording to GC, the Edge I just use as a HUD and a backup in case the f5 hiccups, otherwise the activity just gets deleted from the Edge without being uploaded (so the links I posted were all from my f5). I've checked the crank length, auto-zero etc settings on the Edge and f5 and they appear to be identical (though some settings such as TE/PS and dynamics don't show as options on the f5).

  • I'm sure someone must have commented on this before, but if these issues are related to the battery contacts, how come it's only the right pedal that's always affected?
  • FWIW on my ride today I got the "Lost Connection with Right Pedal" message pop up at the bottom of the screen of my Edge 1030 several times which I had to dismiss by tapping it - previously I've never had this message even where dropouts had occurred, just an occasional message appear for a couple of seconds at the top of the screen before automatically disappearing again which I'm guessing (too small for me to read!) was a "found the right pedal" notification - even though I never got the messages that it had lost it in the first place until today.
  • hello everyone,

I'm another one with the same Issue, lost connection while riding, in mi case it works one ride perfect about 2 1/2 hours. But today I lost data many times, the Power data shown on my edge 520

I already send the Files to the Email above

    let see what happen
  • Ever since I had an ‘update’ on the E520 via Garmin Express and the 3.30 firmware for the Vector 3S (13/4/18) I’ve had power & cadence dropouts. Up till then I’d no problems with the data.
Fired off the Garmin file to Product support today......need to wait and see if they can figure out the ‘problem’.

What is the process for having a .fit file evaluated? I'm frequently having cycling dynamics data not being provided to my 1030 head unit. Cadence can be erratic, power, and L/R balance seems off as well. After my first battery replacement is when I began to have issues, would just like to confirm I've got a reliable set of pedals.
