Zero offset calibration

Hello. My Vector 3 always returns 0.00 in zero offset calibration.
This is normal?
Thanks

Fixed the issue with loss of cycling dynamics for the right pedal by turning it off and on again in Connect Mobile. Also power readings today were back in-line with Neo - maybe just red herring. However, would still like to hear whether or not the fluctuating torque value on calibration is a problem or not as I’m still getting this.

    Thanks.

I purchased my Vector 3 dual sided pedals about a week ago. My torque values upon zero calibration have always fluctuated. Additionally, compared to my Kickr2 and my Stages power meter, the Vector 3 is always understated by about 10 watts.

The torque value being displayed is the sum of the torques being sensed by both pedals in real time and as such it is normal to have some fluctuation.

It's not unexpected to have some difference to other power meters, especially when one or the other device only measures the output of one leg. You could try a direct comparison with Stages by doing pedaling segments one-legged and then dividing the value reported from Stages by two.

hmm interesting! Maybe a bug in Cycling Dynamics is the one causing the ERG power to under/over report like in Shane Millers review.
  • I’ll be interested in trying this out. I just did my first ride with V3 and Kicker16 and it averaged 18w lower than the Kicker. Previously my V2 pedals were always within a watt of the Kicker so I was a bit dismayed to see such a discrepancy. Both the pedals and Kicker were calibrated at the start of the ride. Also, after the ride I started to ge the right pedal disconnect error message, starting to question if this was really an upgrade from V2?

So in erg mode on my kickr2 ( 207 watts at a cadence of 90), I was performing 1 min time trials to see what was causing my vector3 to avg consistently at 199-200 watts. I turned off cycling dynamics and for the next trial, the vectors avg 206 watts for the 1 min trial!! I turned cycling dynamics back on for the next trial and the avg went back down to 199ish. The strange thing is that when I turned cycling dynamics back off the avg remained at 199ish. Seems like I could not duplicate the 206 trial. And then I had to go to work. Completely dismayed I am at the fluctuating avg as well as the generally underreporting of power. Cycling dynamics has my left right balance generally at 50/50 so my stages and kickr2 are in line.

What is the average when you actually select the segment/time in something like strava? I wonder if its the average reporting that is not working properly on your Garmin because if you were using laps then it may have a delay when the kickr finally readjust the ERG target watts.

I only started the time trials once my cadence and power were stabilized at the targets.
