Body fat % suddenly way off

I've lost 30 pounds over the past 5 months. When my weight loss started the scale was showing 18.7% BF. That percentage has consistently dropped with my weight, until a few weeks ago when it was down to 13.4%. Then suddenly on my next weigh-in it jumped to 19.5% even though my weight still dropped. The BF has been in the 19's on every weigh-in since, and my weight still drops. Any ideas why it would be seemingly so accurate for so long and then suddenly it's way off?

  • Strange - if you have multiple users registered to that scale, is there any chance that it's detecting the wrong person standing on the scale? It should show the initials of the person it detects.

  • I'm the only user. And all of the metrics are pushing to my GC profile.

  • Did you by any chance changed your activity level in the user profile? If I remember correctly there are different algorithms used for the 1-4,5-8 and 9-12 activity level groups. If you switch between these groups bf will change dramatically.

  • Having exactly the same issue. @darnich I think you right about activity level from the user profile.

I understand that they using algorithms to estimate but by simply changing your activity level, which is an extremely subjective variable, should not effect your BF% so drastically. I'm wear a Fenix 6, activity level should be take from there for these estimates.

Anyway, the only thing the scale is good for is weight in my opinion.
