Upgrading from Tanita TBF-538 to Garmin Index Smart Scale

I've had a Tanita TBF-538 for 10+ years and have found it accurate in terms of both weight and body fat. While it doesn't have any of the smart features or integration with phones/watches etc it has served me well, however I decided it was time for a change.

After researching I ended up selecting the Garmin Index Smart Scale - not because it was my preferred option (Nokia/Withings was) but because of ease of integration within the Garmin ecosystem.

I had my first weigh in this morning and a chance to compare the Tanita to the Garmin. note: I am on Activity Level 7.
Weight: Garmin 0.3kg heavier. Not sure whether the Tanita or Garmin is the more accurate - I had expected it to be a little closer
Body Fat: Garmin 0.4% higher. Very pleased that it was so close to the Tanita which I have high confidence is about the right figure.

So overall a positive first weigh in.

There are some things I would like improved - no surprise having on what they are, based on other people's posts
  • Ability to measure multiple times a day and keep the readings.
  • Easier way to get the scales to update their firmware. I have a firmware update in the queue and as per others, am waiting, waiting, waiting for it to update
