Athlete (mode) - to be or not to be?

Hi, as a new Index user I read a lot (bad) about the athlete mode. I am actually a triathlete, working out about 6-10 hours a week, with even more in peak season. So my current activity level was 8. However, when I 1st stepped on the scale, it calculated %fat of about 10% and even less today in the morning. When I switched the level to 7, it calculated 16% of body fat.
Now, being definitely on the border, I wonder whether it is better to have the scale in athlete or non-athlete mode in my case...
  • I'm in a similar situation. Triathlete, exercising 10-12 hours a week so assumed I fell in the 8/9 activity level but it was bringing my BF% in at 8%. When I changed my activity level to 7 it was registering 16% BF. As much as i would love to have 8% bf I am nowhere near that. I had a recent BF test done by a professional and it came in at 16%, almost identical to the the scale when set to Activity Level 7. I'll leave it at this setting until Garmin come up with a fix.
